I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Discover in Mar 2024
Interview
Rushed process with little time to understand the nuances of the role. Interviews were 30 minutes and were not all with the hiring team. Interviews were over zoom so it was convenient but lacked personality
Standard interview stuff, my experience and how it fits the job description, how I dealt with various situations etc. Limited time for questions from me. No feedback whatsoever, not even a No.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Discover in Apr 2025
Interview
After initial discussions with the recruiter via email, I completed a 1-hour technical screening with approximately 10 questions, followed by 5 rounds with the hiring manager, external partner, Product Owner, and Product Manager. One of the round was scheduled as a whiteboarding session with an Engineering Manager, but he provided no introduction, showed no familiarity with my resume, and asked random engineering questions instead of conducting the planned whiteboarding exercise. This contrasted with the other well-prepared interviewers who conducted structured conversations about the role and my enterprise architecture experience. Then automated rejection a week later.
