I applied online. I interviewed at Capital One (Arlington, VA) in Nov 2020
Interview
I applied online. In about 2-4 weeks I was scheduled for my first interview. This was part behavioral and part product questions. Then I was scheduled for 3 back-to-back 1 hour interviews. One business analyst case, one product design, one product skills. Product interviews were easy and fun, but business analyst case was difficult and it was not a collaborative experience, just you answering math/business questions. very quantitative.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
How would you improve the Virginia DMV experience?
The interview process was for 2019. The first round was just a 30 minute call. The second round had three on-site interviews: case interview, product interview, and a design challenge.
I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Capital One (Washington, DC) in Oct 2019
Interview
The interview consisted of two stages:
1. Online 30 Minute Video Call
2. Onsite with 3 Interviews: Product, Analytics, and Design
Overall this was one of the most poorly organized interview processes I have ever been in. After one 30 minute interview, Capital One already invites you for an onsite. Never have had an interview process that easy. Then about month later they actually have their onsite.
The PDP program at Capital One is brand new and I think CapitalOne has a lot to figure out. Having participated in a number of product-related on-sites, CapitalOne's interview felt like a bad bank interview. Prompts were delivered from conspicuous packets and candidates had to strictly follow those packets' prompts. If CapitalOne wants to be a tech company, they need to make their interviews tech interviews.
