Interview
I am currently in the early stages of the interview process for the Sr Business Analyst role. I completed the initial recruiter screen, and I am now waiting to be scheduled for the mini case interview and potentially Power Day. So far the communication has been clear and organized, and the recruiter explained what the upcoming steps will look like.

Question 1
They asked me to walk through my background and explain what interested me in the Sr Business Analyst position and the firm.
I explained my experience working with data, analytics, and product focused problem solving, and how that aligns well with Capital One’s approach to analytical decision making.
I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Capital One (McLean, VA) in Sep 2025
Interview
1. Recruiter Screening 2. Coding Assessment (offline) 3. Powerday (2 technical, 1 behavioral, 1 case study) 4. Team matching. I completed my technical interviews in September and was told I had passed. I then had a team-matching conversation with a manager. After that, I didn’t hear anything for weeks. I waited almost two months after the team-matching round with no proactive communication. I was repeatedly told that everything was fine but still awaiting senior leadership approval when I followed up on it. Despite consistently positive signals, I was finally informed in December that senior leadership did not approve the hire. I’ve since read many similar experiences on Glassdoor. I wish I had seen them earlier and avoided wasting so much time.
While I understand that internal approvals can be complicated, a clearer timeline and more consistent communication would have made the process far more transparent and respectful of candidates’ time.
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Capital One (McLean, VA) in Oct 2025
Interview
The first case interview went well and was not too hard (after doing a bunch of prep / reviewing the different products and practicing a few cases). The power day I thought went okay but the math tripped me up a bit.
