I applied online. I interviewed at Capital One (New York, NY)
Interview
I had a screening interview with the recruiter, but it quickly became clear that the role wasn’t quite what I expected. The questions were fairly generic and focused more on terminology than experience. During the conversation, I realized the position was actually a product role focused solely on database systems, with no UI involvement—which wasn’t made clear in the job description. Once that became apparent, I knew it wouldn’t be the right fit for me, and the interview wrapped up shortly after.

Frist round included a virtual culture assessment. Online scenarios and options of what to chose so that they can see the types of decisions you make, not necessarily how you make these decisions.
The interview process was smooth overall. It started with a computer screening, followed by a 30-minute recruiter call focused on my experience and fit with Capital One. Then I had a one-hour “money case” discussing a Capital One product from different angles. I’ve now moved to the PowerDay round, which includes two product cases, one product skills round, and one product discovery round.
