Applied through their carrier site. Got invited for OA and after 15 months the recruiter reached me for 3 rounds of technical interviews. All of them were technical. After 2 rounds the recruiter said my previous job experience match more with the DevOps Role of the same team and the DevOps team wants someone with more than 3 YOE.

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at ByteDance (Singapur) in Oct 2021
Interview
3 rounds of interview including a screening interview as the first stage. The first 2 round of interviews were good, the interviewers were friendly and the question asked were all the typical questions.
The last interview with the hiring manager was the worst one. Was suppose to be through a video application, but the recruiter mentioned "it might be that or whatsapp call". Asked again nearer to the hour which one will it be, the recruiter replied "i dont know".
Then i understand why he replied this way. The interview with the hiring manager was really bad. It was the final round of interview, and it was done via whatsapp call with no video nothing. Throughout the whole interview, he was not interested in my knowledge and experience. He kept asking if I can OT, how much I can work, and how much I can do per day. Maybe the last question was acceptable, but the whole time there was no compassion at all, it was like they were looking to hire a robot for the company. Whenever the answers were not to his satisfaction, you can hear a silence on his side and dissatisfaction from his voice like it was not the answer he is looking for. It was overall quite a traumatic experience for myself and I will not ever apply for any Bytedance role ever again.
