what the process looks like:
hr phone interview - 2 manager interviews - offer communication
the interview process was pretty quick so it would be better if you could prepare it in advance.
3 rounds of online interviews through Lark. SQL skill was tested. First two rounds of interview asked about internship and research experiences, the last one interviewed by HR focused on behaviour questions and career plan.
I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at ByteDance in Oct 2021
Interview
The process was: Online assessment -> Technical interview -> Team selection -> Technical interview with someone from the team -> Hiring manager interview
I thought the online assessment and technical interviews were quite easy. They choose pretty well-known questions around the Leetcode easy to medium range, mostly easy. I was able to get my first team choice, but I was also in the first round of interviews so that probably helped. I heard people who interviewed later didn't get to choose their team at all. The final round with the hiring manager seemed mostly like a formality, unless you really screw up somehow. I also heard that other people were asked if they spoke Mandarin and had their interview in Mandarin if they did, but I'm pretty sure that's just because the interviewer prefers Mandarin and not because there is any kind of language requirement.
They took about 3 weeks after the online assessment until they contacted me for an interview, then about 2 weeks from the first interview to the last interview, and another week to the offer. They only give you 1 week to consider the offer though, unless you have a school policy.
