I applied online. I interviewed at ByteDance (Singapur) in Mar 2021
Interview
Supposedly 3 rounds, one round with HR after the submission of your resume.
The first interview was entirely in mandarin even though it was not written on the job description and neither was I informed by the coordinator that the first round would be in Mandarin. The rationale behind the mandarin interview is that the role will be liasing with Chinese counterparts frequently so proficiency is a must. There are other and better ways to test out proficiency and ability to pick up business mandarin
which is not the same as conversational mandarin. guess I can only blame myself for taking the chance even though I read that there's a chance of it being in mandarin on glassdoor.

Interview
Casual chit chat Second interview mainly in Mandarin Seemed to be more stringent on language and your background (e.g if you came from big names like Meta, Apple etc) than actually assessing on suitability and skillset
