Interview by recuriter, Phone interview over Chime with one easy Leet code problem and 2 behavioral questions. Although the interviewer was very casual at the start of the conversation, it quickly changed into behavioral questions at the start.

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Amazon in Apr 2025

      Interview

TL;DR: Disorganized and unprofessional interview process—technical issues, unclear expectations, and one interviewer even left mid-interview. ---- My interview experience for the SDE role at Amazon was quite frustrating and surprisingly unprofessional for a company of its reputation. It began with a scheduling oversight—my recruiter forgot to send me the interview link and only did so after I reminded him shortly before the first round. First Interview (DSA + Low-Level Design): The interview combined a coding problem and a low-level design question. While the DSA part was straightforward, the LLD portion was confusing. The interviewer had already assumed the existence of certain implemented classes and gave an ambiguous problem statement. I asked multiple clarifying questions, but every time I did, the response was simply “don’t worry about that part” or “imagine that’s handled.” It left me feeling like there was nothing meaningful I could contribute under such constraints. Second Interview (Behavioral + DSA): This session was again impacted by technical issues—the coding interface didn’t load properly, causing a long delay. Additionally, the interviewer did not turn on their webcam, making the entire interaction feel cold and impersonal. The behavioral portion was basic, but the overall experience was negatively affected by the platform issues. Third Interview (Behavioral + DSA): This was the most unprofessional part of the process. The interviewer conducted the call from a public space like a lobby or something and was interrupted multiple times during the behavioral portion. After that, he introduced the coding question, then left the call entirely and never came back. I was left alone to solve the problem for the remaining 30 minutes with no guidance, interaction, or even confirmation that someone was reviewing my input. The coding interface also failed at the start, adding to the disorganization. Despite all these frustrations, I successfully solved all the algorithmic problems (around LeetCode medium level). A week later, I received a rejection with no detailed feedback. In summary, I found the entire process disorganized and disappointing. Candidates deserve a basic level of respect and professionalism—even from a company like Amazon.

First round is just leet code coding which screens through AI before going into live coding. Pretty simple and straighforward. Not too tough. Recruiter walks through it pretty nicely. Not sure how many rounds there are exactly

      Interview

After submitting my application for the Software Engineer position, I received an invitation to complete an automated Online Assessment (OA). The assessment consisted of standard coding challenges, primarily focusing on algorithmic and data structure problems. Unfortunately, a few days after submitting my solutions for the assessment, I received an email informing me that I would not be moving forward in the interview process and was rejected.
