I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon in Sep 2018
Interview
I really didn't enjoy the whole process of the interview. I think the recruiter is unprofessional and the interview is a waste of my time.
My friend referred me. One recruiter contacted me a few days later. She asked me about my availability of the next two weeks. So I arranged my schedule and gave her several time slots that work for me.
But then she sent me an online assessment a couple hours later and asked me to finish within a week. I was a little confused - why you asked about my availability and then gave me an online test? But at this point, I just finished the online test. It's 2 hours long. It's not a small time investment. All my test cases passed for the two questions and I submitted on time.
The recruiter then disappeared. Finally, I emailed her asking about how the review process goes. She replied with a template saying they've moved on with other candidates. She has been using all kinds of templates throughout the whole process. I don't feel I was talking to a real person tbh. I haven't spoken with any real person at all during the whole process.
This is a really poor experience. I don't recommend people waste time to interview with Amazon.

Question 1
get a list of K place that is closest to [0, 0] in a 2d array
Tough interview.
The Process: Automated Online Assessment (OA) with 2 coding questions and a system simulation, followed by a 4-round virtual Loop. Every single round started with 20 minutes of intense, behavioral behavioral questions diving into Amazon's Leadership Principles, followed by 25 minutes of technical coding or system design.
Amazon interviews are a test of mental endurance because you have to switch from deep behavioral storytelling straight into complex coding which can be so difficult. I used Apex Interviewer to practice the cognitive context switch. Running through their live-coding workspace helped me ensure my technical communication and architectural structures remained sharp and automatic, even after spending the first half of the interview defending my past project metrics. I fed the practice AI questions I extracted from glassdoor and gothamloop.
In the end, the offer was way lower than I hoped.
