I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Amazon in May 2021
Interview
Interview started with the hiring manager explaining about the team and then dived right into the SQL question. Given about 10 mins to solve the question which I did. But, it is just whiteboarding, so you won't have the ability to run your query and verify your output.
The hiring manager has a very strong accent and I wasn't able to communicate well with him from the get-go. At the end of the interview, I just knew that I am not gonna be a right fit for the role, since I just can't connect to the interviewer during the interview.

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Amazon (Hyderabad) in Jul 2017

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Amazon (Seattle, WA) in Mar 2020
Interview
I got contacted by a recruiter who explained the process, team, potential compensation, etc. I had a phone screen later that week with a few easy SQL questions. I was then passed off to another recruiter to talk about the full loop.
The full loop was all behavioral until the last one, which was another SQL interview by a BIE. The first interviewer asked a bunch about paralellism which I didn't have experience in. Most people were friendly but it was fairly repetitive.
I got a call back saying they liked me for Amazon but they filled that position with someone else. They asked if I wanted to do an accelerated process with a different group and I said yes. Then I never heard from either of the original recruiters again. Since then I've been pinged by 4 different recruiters who have also ghosted me as soon as I reply. There seems to be no internal communication whatsoever.
