      Landing Gear Engineering Interview

      Jan 28, 2019
      Anonymous employee
      Bristol, England
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Airbus (Bristol, England) in Jan 2019

      Interview

The whole process was quite comfortable and simple. I applied online through their careers website and later received an invitation for an online game-based assessment. The game-based assessment was simple and enjoyable, I excelled but would've preferred a simpler more straightforward approach; however, this will be all the behavioral feedback they will use to develop a profile on you so do mind working through it well. Afterwards, they will review your assessment's profile results in correlation with your application (hence your resume and cover letter) to determine whether you are a fit or not. You'll then be invited to an on-site Assessment Centre (f you've reached this phase you're "already" a company fit). During said Assessment you'll undergo a group project where your personality/behavioral profile should match and where they'll evaluate group dynamics and your ability to develop and execute a strategy to obtain data, employ it and present your results under a time constraint. Afterwards, you'll receive a 100% technical interview which I found to be rather simple if you read up on the matter. There are a total of five (5) subject questions you'll discuss through it with visual aids and whatnot. You don't necessarily have to know the answer right away or even reach it, you do however should demonstrate your thought process by being verbal about your reasoning. Of course, if you do know the answer right away be thorough and cover your bases as they'll propose alternate scenarios on the basis of the answer. They will also help you and guide you to the right answer. Also, you may or may not face more than one of the representatives of your target department, I had two very polite and professional engineers. The whole environment is built for you to not feel the pressure of what's actually going on. They also served tea, coffee, water and snacks and had several breaks arranged between activities. Afterwards, you'll get a chance to talk with current interns about their experience. Be sure to remember that Airbus recruiters do not want you to fail. Ease off, only good things can come from this process regardless of whether you succeed or not but do keep in mind that if you do not prepare, you will not do well on the technical interview. Be yourself, prepare and do your best.

      Interview questions [4]

      Question 1

I was given schematics of a landing gear mechanism where several systems and components were pointed out and named. I was to identify their respective use and function.
      Answer question

      Question 2

I was presented with various factors (dirt, water, birds, and dust) that pose threats of different natures to a landing gear system. I was to assess the threats they each posed, why they posed a threat and present a reasonable solution to address the respective problems.
      Answer question

      Question 3

I was presented with three different graphs developed through a flight and was to match and justify three factors, each to a single graph that demonstrated the curve behavior of each criteria during particular times during a flight process. I believe the criteria was tire pressure, brake temperature and _____________________.
      Answer question

      Question 4

Was asked to suggest innovations for landing gear development.

      Interview

3 step 1. game 2. ai interview 3. "in-person) interview The game part of the process wasn't hard. The 2nd part was a lit awkward but that was because I am more comfortable when talking to a actual person. Super nervous about the 3 part and it was kind of hard especially when the topic is not something your familiar with though reading up on the topic would help. It took around 3 months to hear back.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

I don't remember the specific questions. They showed a picture of a landing gear. As question about what some of the part do. They also asked about behavioral question like how you react in a hypothetical scene, for example if a teammate made a mistake. They send you the topic you would go over in a email.

I applied online. I interviewed at Airbus

      Interview

group test followed by individual interview. we were provided with a task to make a compromise between cost, profit and carbon emission in the group test. it was required to do a presentation at the end. in the interview, they do ask you academic questions, but it's fine not knowing the answer, they wanted to see how you'd react to question which you don't know. So it's important not to be panic and frustrated, which was the reason I got rejected.

      Interview

the interviewing process was interesting and fun. the task during the group activity was unexpected, and it was not very difficult. However, it was designed to discover everyone's weaknesses and strengths during the teamwork. the individual interview was also less challenging than I expected, they do try to guide the applicants as much as possible instead of pressuring them.

      Question 1

what is the use of this specific part on the landing gear (with pictures presented to the interviewee)
