I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at ADP (Maitland, FL) in May 2025
Interview
I applied online on May 15. The very next day, I received an invite to complete a video interview (pre-recorded responses). The questions focused on my experience, outlined blackout periods for vacation, and explained details like the weekly schedule.
A few days later, I was sent a grammar and communication assessment — very straightforward, involving basic spelling and vocabulary questions.
Shortly after, a recruiter called to invite me to an in-person interview with two hiring managers. They were incredibly communicative, sending prep resources and clear instructions on where to go and what to expect.
The interview itself felt conversational, not overly scripted. The managers introduced themselves and asked questions about how my experience connected to the role, why I was interested in ADP, and several situational questions. They followed up thoughtfully, creating a natural back-and-forth. They ended by opening the floor for questions.
A few days later, I was told in person I’d move to a final interview with the Senior Director of Implementation, which was conducted virtually via Microsoft Teams.
This final interview felt more direct and high-pressure — not in a negative way, but definitely more challenging. The director asked about how my background aligned with the role, why I was interested in payroll, and if I was open to other roles (which made more sense later). It lasted around 35 minutes rather than the full hour.
The next day, the recruiter called to inform me I wasn’t selected due to lack of direct payroll experience and a highly competitive applicant pool. However, she went out of her way to refer me to another role in Client Services, which I eventually got.
