Anyone knows what the E bands at HCLTech represent?
Am I being overly paranoid? I walked away from a final-round offer because they refused to remove an aggressive 24-month signing bonus clawback clause. The base was great, but the contract stated that if I left for any reason (including getting laid off due to corporate restructuring) I would owe them the gross amount back immediately. In an industry where entire departments get wiped out overnight, signing that would have been financial suicide.
I have been working as a Tier 1 Help Desk technician for the past 10 months at a company where I have worked for a total of 5 years. I’m wondering where I could pivot, as I believe my wage is very low considering my tenure. I currently make $18 an hour, and I recently earned an HDI certification. I also have to work every Saturday with no rotating shifts. I’m wondering how I can bring up the possibility of a raise, or if I should start looking for opportunities at different companies instead.
Why do I have a gut feeling the more I try to stick with tech, no matter what, I will be laid off in the next 2-4 years? So much automation and shrinking of headcount. Is there a way to future proof my salary and career?
My company just slashed our On-Call Compensation structure by 50% because they claim our new automated monitoring tool reduces the manual burden. In reality, PagerDuty is hitting us just as hard at 2 AM. It feels like an incredibly underhanded way to cut total compensation without changing the official base salary numbers on our contracts. How do you collectively organize a pushback against a policy change?
Would you trade a hybrid job with great work life balance & 4 day workweek but average pay, for a job with 2x higher salary but 5 days a week in office with an additional 30 minute commute time?
It is how they break down their pay and jobs. I do not remember what the pay is per band. It is similar to the US Government but more restrictive on if you can move to the different bands in your job.
Pay and Job ranges essentially.
