Great company to work for but focused on "missile" more than "systems"

Pros

Excellent benefits. Very broad training opportunities. Great people to work with.

Cons

Career progression speed seems largely dependant on how good you are at reporting to your management chains (function or project), not necessarily good results but high quality reporting of them. Base salary is a little less than competitors. Career opportunities are great horizontally but vertically... not so much. Innovation is highly valued but, "If it's not a missile we are not interested." is very much the state of play. Resourcing constraints often limit work effectiveness.

Pros

Nice place to work with great colleagues in my team. Lovely modern site to work on. Lots of leave, and flexible working. Company is keen to learn and improve. Subsidised restaurant, cafe, gym on site. Output oriented rather than "time at desk" oriented.

Cons

They seek to pay average salary but often come up a bit short. No cultural diversity due to restrictions on defence projects . Offices are all quite an inspiring grey (not a major gripe, but since you asked)
