Pros

The best reasons to work at KPMG have to be the vacation time and the opportunity to advance both within the company and elsewhere. The Company tries to do little things to make the employees feel valued (gifts, extra days off, parties, etc), but it often doesn't make a significant impact. Management seems to care and most of the people are genuinely good people with the best intentions.

Cons

The work itself is awful. The hours during the spring are ridiculous and there is an expectation that working all the time is expected and is something to admire. Work should support one's life, work should not be one's life. The vacation time is nice (25 days), but it is necessary to endure the constant irritation that is the average day at work.

Pros

They are true to their word when they promote work/life balance. I have been very luck b/c when I was traveling for a long period of time, my engagement manager made it a point to give me some time at home (and not at the local office either).

Cons

Traveling is a part of the job, and sometimes it may be tiring. If you get lucky, you might even get a chance to travel internationally.

Pros

Stable career progression, you will get their if not in a rush. Feels like the firm take care of you, semi annual gifts of ice cream/meats, firm resources, people seem to be invested in performance review and process improvement. International rotations do make it feel like a global firm. People are generally open and collaborative; no one is really out to get you.

Cons

Limited advice or direction from senior management. People held back in their positions while new incompetent ones are hired. May be just specific to my area, but candidates are “hired” before they interviewed.
