Pros
The benefits, pay, corporate Amex, company car, free lunches with customers
Cons
There is no training. I learned pretty much everything on my own. You will spend half your day putting out fires due to trucks not showing up on time (or at all) or a vendor pushing back the delivery date of a chemical far past the date that a customer needs it. This creates a lack of trust in Brenntag by the customer which hurts you as the rep, despite not have any control over the situation. Competitors have lower prices because they make commission off sales while we make it on margin. Most of the chemical prices in the database you won’t be able to see. You’ll reach out to product managers for a quote and it may be days before you hear back from them (if you do). This creates even more distrust amongst customers as they wait for your quote and this often loses the order. The culture is toxic as you will receive multiple nasty emails a month if sales are down from management. All of these things has caused a mass exodus of tenured employees in the past several year. If you are a tenured, successful sales rep, I would stay away from Brenntag.
