Pros

Nothing that I can think of

Cons

Got PIPED today.I am just 8 months old to company. I am so disappointed and questioning my self if I am really bad? I know I am not and have done nice job. The reason in the PIP documents given are so lame, even the person who is not doing anything couldnt be fired based on those examples. Edit- I was never given any dev plan which people talk on blind. When I asked my manager where is dev plan before PIP? I was told by HR there is no dev plan. this is your dev plan. I am not feeling like working anymore anywhere.

Pros

At Amazon, you need to be proactive and good at communication which is a weak point of most engineers in general. There are many meetings and chances of interacting with many peoples in addition to writing a program.

Cons

Like many big and old company, there are so many legacy code which is big and hard to improve. Therefore, development velocity is very low unless you are working on isolated task. With this environment where development efficiency is low, we need to deliver product quickly which led to frequent over time works.
