Pros

Work with talented people and on challenging problems.

Cons

Amazon obsesses about RT05 more than anything else and there is no empathy/flexibility even for people who need the WFH flexibility due to health reasons. Every time there is a firing cycle, it’s a bit scary. Promotion from SDE1 to SDE2 is easy. Beyond that it’s really hard. Oncall - depending on the team that you’re in / can be really stressful and impacts work-life balance.

Pros

Touch a lot of services and different code

Cons

Beuracacy slows things down, and every middle manager wants to touch your project. You'll spend time explaining things to managers, theyll ask for a write up, theyll summarize and write it up to their manager, Wasting your time so they look good.

Pros

You work with smart people and get to learn a lot

Cons

The PIP system puts team mates against each other and creates a sort of competition. Moves the focus from real work to comparison.
