I applied through college or university. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at 3M (Saint Paul, MN)
Interview
Very personal and communicative throughout the interview process. You get to talk to many people involved in the program, and they make sure that you get a chance to answer all questions that you have.

Interview
Phone interview followed by an in person interview. When I walked out of the in person interview it felt like it went - weird. Intuition was correct. Aside from their headquarters and manufacturing sites, external candidates need to realize that the interview they are on is completely fixed as 3M only uses internal candidates from their HQ and moves them out of state. I went on a fake interview and all of my interviewers knew it. Do not give them free consulting advice, be very careful. Look out for this. Was the most qualified candidate but sadly the candidate was pre chosen even before I interviewed. They will never admit to this but its obvious. Will never apply again.

Interview
I initially spoke with the HR Rep, was passed on for an interview with the Hiring Manager then a panel interview with some of the team. Pretty straightforward question and answer interview using STAR format.
